About Insiyah Amiji
Dr Insiyah Amiji has years of experience as a paediatrician, providing care and improving services in Tanzania and France. She spent two years leading the Department of Pediatrics in a hospital in Tanzania, where she helped train junior staff and created a six-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, providing modern technology and excellent care to vulnerable babies in a resource-limited country.
Amiji helps patients and their families access the services and treatment they need. She helps coordinate medical appointments and provides emotional support and education to allow families to make informed decisions regarding their children’s health. To advance her career after years of helping communities, Amiji is working toward her board certification in the UK and a French equivalent.
Experience
- Head of Department Pediatrics, Saifee Hospital Tanzania – Amiji spent two years leading the Department of Paediatrics, training junior staff, formulating SOPs, and caring for patients as outpatients, inpatients, and critical care. These patients were spread across the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) departments. She created a 6-bed NICU with modern technology to deliver better care to vulnerable babies, serving the broader community with improved healthcare.
- Care Team Lead and Coordinator – Amiji is a link between patients, their families, and the healthcare system. She assesses individual needs, creates care plans, and coordinates medical appointments and support services. Working closely with other medical professionals, Amiji helps to provide fast and high-quality care. She also offers emotional support and education to help families and patients make informed decisions and access care to improve their quality of life.
