What Sets The Haakaa Generation 3 Apart From The Crowd?
When testing the Haakaa Generation 3, we found plenty of amazing features that we think other parents will love. Here are a few of our favourites:
The new twist top
One of our favourite features is the new twist top that allows you to separate the flange from the bottle piece of the pump! Before now, Haakaa pumps have all been made from single construction, so this new feature is great for parents who want to keep their pump as clean and sanitary as possible, while also improving its lifespan. You can remove the flange for easier cleaning or to swap it out for any of Haakaa’s interchangeable attachments, which include:
- Baby bottle teats
- Feeding spoon dispenser
- Sippy bottle top
- Sealing disks
These accessories make it easier for you to store breast milk or feed it to your little one straight away without having to dirty another bottle. We love this feature because it’s unlike anything we’ve ever seen from the brand before!
Convenient and portable
Another thing we really like about the Haakaa Generation 3 is how small and portable it is! This pump is small enough to fit in your bag, letting you take it anywhere and everywhere to make sure you never have to lose any milk from let-down while breastfeeding. You can buy a carry case separately, but many customers don’t feel the need for this as the pump is conveniently small enough without it. Plus, with no cords or batteries to worry about, all you need to take is the pump itself and nothing else!
How Much Does The Haakaa Generation 3 Cost?
The Haakaa Generation 3 costs $35.40 for the 160 ml size and $38.40 for 250 ml, which we think is a great price for such a versatile and impressive manual pump. We’ve seen many manual pumps on the market for more money with fewer features, so we were really impressed with the Haakaa Gen 3’s price! However, it’s important to remember that if you want to use any extra accessories with this pump, you’ll need to buy these separately.
What Is The Warranty On The Haakaa Generation 3?
Unfortunately, the Haakaa Generation 3 doesn’t come with a warranty as it’s made from consumable materials. While the price isn’t too high to worry that much about a warranty, we would’ve still preferred some kind of protection against manufacturing defects so we could use the product without concerning ourselves with wasting money.
Is The Haakaa Generation 3 Comfortable?
Yes, the Haakaa Generation 3 is super comfortable thanks to its wide flange made from pliable silicone that moulds to any body. Many parents have found it to be super comfortable and form-fitting throughout the day, even when they have full breasts, which can otherwise be uncomfortable in plastic pumps. The fact that this pump is manual and doesn’t require a constant movement of your hand to pump means that you can enjoy a more comfortable expression session.
Is The Haakaa Generation 3 Easy To Adjust?
Yes, thanks to the Haakaa’s new twist design, you can adjust the bulbous bottom however you see fit. Unlike other Haakaa products, this means that you can adjust the use of this pump accordingly, using it as a bottle and feeding device as well as a milk collector. You’ll need to buy the extra attachments separately, but we think this is a great feature that allows you to continue using your Haakaa for much longer, letting you get the most from your purchase.
Is The Haakaa Generation 3 Easy To Attach And Use?
We found the Haakaa Generation 3 super easy to use and attach! Just like all other Haakaa products, the silicone of this pump moulds to your body as you press it against your breast. This lets you focus on getting the perfect amount of suction instead of worrying about the fit. To attach it, simply squeeze the base before pressing to your body and releasing it when you’re happy with its position. You may have to do this a few times to perfect the amount of suction your Haakaa is generating, but once it’s attached, we found it strong enough to stay attached without us having to hold it.
Thanks to the unique suction power, there’s no need for you to squeeze the pump to initiate its expression feature. The suction will gently express milk for you, or collect your let-down while breastfeeding on the other side. Once you’re finished, unscrew the top piece and attach a lid, teat, or other accessory to either feed your little one or store the milk for use at a later date. Simple!
Is The Haakaa Generation 3 Easy To Clean?
Yes, the Haakaa Generation 3 is super easy to clean thanks to its three-piece construction and dishwasher-friendly material. You can either use a sponge and cleaning soap or your dishwasher to completely clean the silicone, but make sure you check the small spaces between the seal ring to make sure no milk gets trapped within them.
Final Thoughts On The Haakaa Generation 3
Overall, we really liked the Haakaa Generation 3 and, for the most part, think it’s a great improvement on the second generation. Some of our features are the new twist top it comes with that can be used to convert the pump into a bottle or milk container, along with the conveniently portable size. The only downside we found was that this pump didn’t come with a suction base like the Generation 2 alternative, which we were a little confused about as this was one of the main draws of the second generation. Still, we think this is an excellent manual pump for many parents.
