What Are The Benefits Of The Haakaa Generation 2?
- Many parents really liked the suction base that was new in this version of the Haakaa, as it helped them prevent devastating spills after pumping
- This pump comes in two sizes, 100 ml and 150 ml, so you can decide whether you want a more compact version of the larger alternative
What Are The Drawbacks Of The Haakaa Generation 2?
Some buyers were disappointed that this pump didn’t come with any protection from the manufacturer defects, especially considering the higher cost compared to the original version
Are There Any Accessories Included With The Haakaa Generation 2?
Unfortunately, the Haakaa Generation 2 doesn’t come with any accessories. While it’s a little disappointing, we also expected as much considering the lower price point. However, Haakaa does offer plenty of accessories on its website that you can buy if you’d still like to improve the usage of your pump. These include:
- Silicone breast pump strap
- Silicone breast pump cap
- Silicone breast pump flower stopper
- Silicone brush
- Insulated storage bag
- Silicone cleaning brush kit
What Sets The Haakaa Generation 2 Apart From The Crowd?
When testing out the Haakaa Generation 2 for ourselves, we found plenty of great features that we think parents will love. Here are a few of our favourites:
The Suction Base
One of our favourite features of the Haakaa Generation 2 was the suction base, which is a new feature from the first generation. This keeps your liquid gold safe and secure in the Haakaa’s silicone body. Once you’re finished feeding, you can place the Haakaa Generation 2 on a flat surface to stick it upright until you’re ready to store it safely. You’ll usually use the Haakaa while breastfeeding, so it can be difficult to store the collected milk as soon as you’re finished feeding. Luckily, with the suction base, you’re much less likely to spill any milk while doing everything you need to do before taking it to the kitchen.
The larger size options
Another feature we really like about the Haakaa Generation 2 is its larger size options. The first generation only comes in one 100 ml size, while the second comes in both 100 ml and 150 ml sizes, allowing you to choose in case you have a larger supply. The smaller design is perfect for catching let-downs and carrying around with you while out and about, while the larger alternative is excellent if you want to use your Haakaa as a manual pump as well.
How Much Does The Haakaa Generation 2 Cost?
The Haakaa Generation 2 currently costs $28.40 for a 100 ml Silicone Collector and $30.40 for the larger 150 ml size. We were pleasantly surprised by this pump’s low cost, especially considering it’s one of the market leaders! This pump does cost a little more than Generation 1, but we think the improved features are well worth the extra investment.
What Is The Warranty On The Haakaa Generation 2?
Unfortunately, for hygienic reasons, Haakaa doesn’t offer a warranty on any of its silicone breastfeeding products, including the Haakaa Generation 2. While it’s disappointing that there’s no protection for your purchase, you do have fourteen days to send your boxed and unused pump back if you change your mind. Some customers were a little disappointed that the brand would only exchange returned items for another pump or a credit voucher instead of a refund.
Is The Haakaa Generation 2 Comfortable?
The Haakaa Generation 2 is one of the most comfortable silicone collectors on the market, so you can rest assured that it’ll be comfy and gentle on your body while breastfeeding on the other side. The Haakaa Generation 2 can be used as both a milk collector and a manual pump, but rest assured that these two features are equally as comfortable as each other. The BPA-free silicone is super soft against the skin, and you’re in complete control of how strong the suction is so you don’t have to suffer through extra pinching or a strong pull on your breast.
Is The Haakaa Generation 2 Easy To Adjust?
The Haakaa Generation 2 doesn’t need to be adjusted as it’s made with super soft silicone that can bend and flex to your body shape. With its 24 mm flange, which is one of the most common breast shield sizes on the market, most parents find the Haakaa to fit nicely without any adjustments. However, while other brands might offer adjusters to make the flange larger or smaller, Haakaa has found its customers don’t need these to use the pump just as effectively as any other offering on the market.
Is The Haakaa Generation 2 Easy To Attach And Use?
We found the Haakaa Generation 2 incredibly easy to use and attach, especially with the instructions Haakaa provides! Simply place the pump over your nipple and make sure it lines up with the neck of your pump before applying suction by squeezing the base to begin the flow of milk. You might need to readjust the position a few times before you get it super comfortable, but as soon as you find a comfortable position and see milk beginning to flow, you can sit back and relax!
Unlike most other manual pumps on the market, you don’t need to keep squeezing the base to continue the flow of milk. Instead, the suction gently expresses milk on its own, making this a wonderful option for a hands-free pump! Once you’re done pumping, the suction base can keep your milk securely attached to a surface until you’re ready to store it in a bottle or freezer bag.
Is The Haakaa Generation 2 Easy To Clean?
We were pleasantly surprised at how easy the Haakaa Generation 2 was to clean thanks to its all-in-one construction! You also have the choice to clean your Haakaa in the dishwasher or by hand, which is super helpful when you don’t always have time to clean by hand. Plus, sterilising this pump only takes a few minutes in boiling water, so keeping it clean and safe has never been easier.
Final Thoughts On The Haakaa Generation 2
Overall, we were really impressed with the Haakaa Generation 2 and think it’s an excellent option for parents who want the newer generation of Haakaa’s revolutionary product. Some of our favourite features were the suction base and the two size options – both of which are new improvements from the first generation of Haakaa. The only downside we noticed was that it didn’t come with a warranty, which was particularly disappointing considering the higher price point.
