What Are The Benefits Of The Mocka Boston Cot?
- Many parents really like the roomy design of this cot which might make children more inclined to use their bed for longer by giving them more room to relax in
- This cot can be used in three different configurations, including a bassinet, cot, and toddler bed
What Are The Drawbacks Of The Mocka Boston Cot?
- Some parents found the cot quite difficult to put together and adjust between the base heights
Are There Any Accessories Included With The Mocka Boston Cot?
Unfortunately, the Mocka Boston cot doesn’t come with any accessories so you’ll have to buy them separately before getting to use this crib for yourself. Thankfully, all you should really need is a mattress and fitted sheet before having the cot usable, so this shouldn’t be too much more costly. The recommended mattress size is 130 x 69 x 10 cm, which is one of the most common sizes on the market so you shouldn’t have an issue with choosing one from your preferred supplier. Mocka offers plenty of options to choose from, but so do many other brands online!
What Sets The Mocka Boston Cot Apart From The Crowd?
There’s plenty to appreciate when considering the Boston cot as your new crib, and we found lots of standout features we think parents will love! Some of our favourites include:
Nice and roomy
The first thing we noticed about the Boston cot was its size, as this cot is super large and roomy! While it might not be suitable for smaller apartments or nurseries, if you have the room for it, this cot takes up enough space to draw all eyes to it. This makes it a great focal point for any nursery and gives your little one plenty of space to stretch out in their sleep. Kids can often feel cramped even when you think they still have plenty of room left to grow, so the added space this cot offers is a great feature to entice them into using their cot for longer.
Converts to three different beds
Another feature we really liked about the Boston cot was how it could be used in three different ways depending on our little one’s age and development. The bassinet is nice and spacious while keeping our babies closer to us so we could easily tend to them whenever they needed us, while the cot kept them safer once they’d learned how to pull themselves up. Finally, once they’d outgrown their cot space, we could convert it into a toddler bed with the conversion kit! We did have to buy this separately, so bear in mind that this is an extra expense if you want to use it in this final configuration.
How Much Does The Mocka Boston Cot Cost?
The Mocka Boston cot currently costs $469, making it suitable for most parents on medium-sized budgets. We personally think this price is justified considering the popular brand, the gorgeous design, and overall functionality. However, remember that you’ll need to buy the mattress, sheets, and conversion kit separately.
What Is The Warranty On The Mocka Boston Cot?
Mocka offers a one-year warranty on all of their products, including the Boston cot. While one year is certainly better than nothing, we would’ve preferred this to have been slightly longer considering the price. One year isn’t that long, especially if you’re not planning on putting the cot together straight away, so it only gives you limited time to spot any manufacturing defects before your warranty expires.
Is The Mocka Boston Cot Safe?
Yes, the Mocka Boston cot is incredibly safe! Not only does it comply with Australia’s safety standards (AS/NZS 2172), but it also abides by the Consumer Protection Notice No.6 of 2005 to give you extra peace of mind that this cot is super secure and stable for your baby. One thing we noticed when using this cot is that the mattress base is bolted in from two sides, which is annoying when building the cot, but makes the mattress base much sturdier while our children sleep on it. We were very satisfied with the safety precautions Mocka has taken with their Boston cot.
Is The Mocka Boston Cot Easy To Adjust?
Out of all the cots we’ve tested out, the Mocka Boston isn’t the easiest we’ve tried to adjust. We’d highly recommend you keep hold of the user manual, as the instructions are definitely necessary! You’ll need to remove one of the side panels before adjusting the base, which is bolted in from all sides and therefore difficult to loosen. Make sure you put enough time aside to do this, as rushing will only make it more difficult! We’d also recommend asking someone for help to make sure you get it right the first time.
Is The Mocka Boston Cot Easy To Manoeuvre?
No, the Mocka Boston cot isn’t easy to manoeuvre – but that’s because it’s not designed to be constantly moved! At 24 kg, this is one of the lighter full-sized cots we’ve seen on the market, but that doesn’t mean you should move it too often. Also, while it may be tempting to slide the cot from side to side with its large base panels to move it, this can damage the structure and weaken the entire cot, so we highly recommend asking someone to help you pick it up and move it instead of dragging it across the floor.
Is The Mocka Boston Cot Easy To Assemble?
The Boston cot wasn’t the easiest to assemble because there were quite a few extra steps that needed to be taken in order to make this crib as secure as it is. So, while this was certainly annoying and inconvenient while we were putting it together, we were happy with the extra effort required in the end. Make sure to follow the instructions in your user manual to make sure you get everything right the first time!
Is The Mocka Boston Cot Easy To Clean?
The Boston cot isn’t too difficult to clean as long as you don’t mind getting into plenty of corners with small soft-bristled brushes! We found these quite tricky to reach with our microfibre cloth, so we used a handheld steamer to blast the dust away from them. While we wouldn’t recommend doing this too much, it definitely was more effective than a cloth for the hardest-to-reach corners and between the bars!
Final Thoughts On The Mocka Boston Cot
Overall, we really enjoyed testing the Mocka Boston cot out for ourselves, and there were plenty of features we really liked! Some of our favourites were the nice and roomy size and the 3-in-1 functionality. This cot was quite difficult to put together and adjust, though, so make sure you leave plenty of time to prevent rushing and skipping steps!
