What Are The Drawbacks Of The Essentials by Tasman Eco Florence Cot?
- Some parents found that the white colour showed dirt and scuffed quickly so the cot ended up looking older in a shorter period of time
Are There Any Accessories Included With The Essentials by Tasman Eco Florence Cot?
Unfortunately, the Florence cot does not include accessories, so you’ll need to buy the mattress and sheets separately. Luckily, this cot is recommended for use with a mattress size of 130 x 69 x 12 cm, which is one of the most common mattress sizes. This means you shouldn’t have too much trouble finding a suitable mattress for your child.
What Sets The Essentials by Tasman Eco Florence Cot Apart From The Crowd?
There’s plenty to like about the Florence cot! Here are a few of our favourites that we think you’ll also really appreciate:
One-handed drop side
The Florence cot comes with a one-hand dropside which we found to be really helpful and beneficial when tending to our little ones. We felt like this drop side was super sturdy and secure so we never had any concerns about it, and it made the world of difference on our backs when we had to continuously bend into the crib over and over again during the nighttime. We also really liked how it could be controlled using only one hand so we could tend to our children with the other. There’s nothing worse than a stiff drop side, and Tasman Eco does not disappoint with this one!
Plenty of adjustability
Another thing we really like about the Florence cot is how adjustable it is! Not only can the mattress base height be adjusted to a higher and lower position depending on your child’s age and development, but you can also convert it into a toddler bed once your baby has outgrown their tall bars by removing one of the sides! This gives them more freedom to get in and out of bed without help, making them feel like the big kid they are.
How Much Does The Essentials by Tasman Eco Florence Cot Cost?
The Florence cot currently costs $499, making it suitable for the majority of medium and lower budgets. However, considering this is a cot from an Essentials range, we were a little surprised that the price was this high, as we wouldn’t consider it to be completely budget-friendly.
What Is The Warranty On The Essentials by Tasman Eco Florence Cot?
The Florence cot comes with a two-year warranty, which we think is reasonable considering the price point. Tasman Eco recommends that this cot should be suitable for children up to the age of 3.5 years, so the warranty will cover you for over half of the average use time.
Is The Essentials by Tasman Eco Florence Cot Safe?
Yes, the Florence cot is perfectly safe and is in compliance with the Australian Standard (AS/NZS:2172 2013). All paints and finishes are also non-toxic, so you can rest assured that your little one will be safe – even if they take a liking to chewing on their cot bars while teething. The ‘Safety Slide’ drop mechanism is also completely safe and sturdy, and we had no safety concerns while using it with our little ones!
Is The Essentials by Tasman Eco Florence Cot Easy To Adjust?
We also found the Florence cot easily adjustable! There are only two sets of screws you need to adjust when moving the mattress base from its bassinet height to cot bed height, so you should be able to do this in no time at all. We highly recommend that you keep the Allen key you get with this cot safe, as we misplaced ours and had to go looking for one of the right size before we could adjust the mattress base.
Is The Essentials by Tasman Eco Florence Cot Easy To Manoeuvre?
The Florence cot is okay to move short distances when you have another adult to help you thanks to the design. The end panels have two long gaps that can be used as handles, letting you lift and move the cot around the nursery to the perfect place where you want it. However, the legs are quite long and thin, so we wouldn’t recommend pushing or pulling it around on your own as it might weaken the wood.
Is The Essentials by Tasman Eco Florence Cot Easy To Assemble?
We found the Florence cot super easy to assemble thanks to the instructions in the user manual which featured both diagrams and plenty of concise notes to follow exactly. There were no uncertain terms or steps where we were guessing what to do next, so we were able to get this cot up and running much quicker than we were first expecting to.
Is The Essentials by Tasman Eco Florence Cot Easy To Clean?
The Florence cot is easy to clean with warm soapy water and a soft cloth, although we found that the white material scuffed and stained quite quickly. This meant we were having to clean the cot more often than we’d have liked and it ended up looking older quicker than other cots we’ve tried.
Final Thoughts On The Essentials by Tasman Eco Florence Cot
Overall, we enjoyed testing the Florence cot! Some of our favourite features were the one-handed drop side and the extensive adjustability, along with the lower cost that would be suitable for most budgets. However, we would’ve preferred to have another colour option which showed scuffs less obviously, as cleaning the cot so often became a bit of a pain.
