What Are The Drawbacks Of The Cocoon Piccolo Cot?
- Some parents found that this cot was quite heavy, which made it quite difficult to push, even with the castor wheels helping them
Are There Any Accessories Included With The Cocoon Piccolo Cot?
Much to our delight, the Piccolo cot comes with a few accessories that make it a joy to use with newborns and older toddlers! Within the price of this crib, you’ll also get a mattress and castor wheels. The included mattress is an excellent addition because these can be super expensive, so having one included means you don’t have to worry about the extra cost. All you need to buy is a fitted mattress sheet before having the cot ready to use.
What Sets The Cocoon Piccolo Cot Apart From The Crowd?
When testing the Piccolo cot, we found plenty of features we think other parents will really enjoy. Here are a few of our personal favourites:
Included mattress
One of our favourite features of the Piccolo cot is that it comes with an included mattress, which is almost unheard of when it comes to full-sized cribs on the market! Usually, parents will need to buy these on top of the cot, so you’ll be shelling out more money than you initially thought – but not when it comes to the Piccolo! With this bundle for the market average price, you’ll be getting better value for money.
High-quality castor wheels
Another feature we really liked on the Piccolo cot was the castor wheels that let us wheel our little ones throughout each room in our house, keeping them close without confining us to one room. Newborns sleep for ages, and it can be challenging for parents to get anything done when they want to stay close to their babies. It can also help your mental health by moving your baby with you so you don’t have to sit in a quiet, dark room throughout every single day. These wheels are high-quality, and we had no issues with them getting caught or stuck!
How Much Does The Cocoon Piccolo Cot Cost?
The Piccolo cot currently costs $549, which is a suitable price for most medium-sized budgets. We think this is a great price, especially considering you get a mattress included, so you won’t need to buy one separately! Most cribs don’t come with a mattress, so this is one of our favourite features for expectant parents.
What Is The Warranty On The Cocoon Piccolo Cot?
The Piccolo cot comes with a warranty, although the brand doesn’t specify how long this is for their cribs. However, they can’t be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law, and you’re invited to either call or email Cocoon Furniture with your claim. We’d recommend including pictures with your email as these may help speed up the claim process, getting your cot replaced or fixed as quickly as possible for you.
Is The Cocoon Piccolo Cot Safe?
Yes, the Piccolo cot is super safe and complies with Australian safety standards (AS/NZS 2172:2013), so you don’t have to worry about anything being less than secure for your little one. We also really liked that the corners of this cot were rounded, as we’ve had our fair share of accidents involving sprinting toddlers and sharp crib corners! The castor wheels also have breaks so you can firmly lock them into place when you’re not moving the crib, keeping your baby safe all day and night.
Is The Cocoon Piccolo Cot Easy To Adjust?
The Piccolo cot was easy enough to adjust, with only four screws needing to be repositioned before moving the base up or down. The mattress base is fully slatted though, so we found this a little difficult when we were trying to hold the base in the correct position to retighten the hardware. We’d highly recommend getting someone to help hold this, as that would’ve made our mission much easier!
Is The Cocoon Piccolo Cot Easy To Manoeuvre?
The Piccolo cot comes with handy castor wheels that make it super easy to manoeuvre any way you’d like. Thanks to the compact width of 70 cm, this cot should fit through most standard doorways, so you can even wheel your little one into different rooms in the house, keeping them close to you throughout the day. Once you’re happy with the position, simply lock the wheels to prevent them from going anywhere! We will note, however, that this cot weighs 30 kg which is quite heavy, so we wouldn’t want to be pushing this crib for very long at a time.
Is The Cocoon Piccolo Cot Easy To Assemble?
We found the Piccolo cot easy enough to assemble, although there were quite a few pieces to fit together, so it took longer than other cots that already had some pieces pre-assembled. The fully slatted base is nice once it’s up, but it’s a real pain to assemble, so make sure you set aside enough time to make your crib so you’re not rushing the entire process. We were guilty of this and had to redo half the steps because we got them wrong!
Is The Cocoon Piccolo Cot Easy To Clean?
The Piccolo cot was easy enough to clean, although there were plenty of bars to get around! However, as we got into a rhythm of cleaning these, we managed to speed up and get this cot cleaned quicker than expected! Bear in mind that the castors will tend to pick up hair and debris from carpet more than hardwood floors, so you might be cleaning these more often if you have carpeted flooring.
Final Thoughts On The Cocoon Piccolo Cot
Overall, we really enjoyed testing out the Piccolo cot for ourselves, with some of our favourite features including the included mattress and the high-quality castor wheels. We would’ve preferred it to have been a little lighter to make moving the pram even easier, but we didn’t find this a deal breaker as we were just happy to be able to move the crib along with us.
